Underground Café and Seward House Museum have teamed up to offer a serving of local history this summer. The Museum opened a new exhibit, "Stealing Freedom: The Seward Family and the Underground Railroad." Cafe patrons will receive a $1 discount on a tour of the Museum and museum visitors will receive a $1 discount on lunch at the Café. Cafe owner Bev Johnson also created a new menu item, the "Freedom Sandwich," available on an ongoing basis. The sandwich is a grilled chicken breast, topped with homemade Cajun sauce, lettuce, tomato served on a ciabbatta roll with a side of chips or pretzels. Staff is now accepting submissions for the first month of the Downtown Stories Contest.
Every month for a year, we will review your short stories. A winner will be chosen at the end of the month and will receive their choice of a $10 gift card or a Downtown Books & Coffee T-shirt. Writers of any age may enter. Your story can be of any genre, and you may submit a story more than one month. Write one for every month!
At the end of the year, the winning stories will in a book entitled, "Downtown Stories," available at Downtown Books & Coffee. This is a great way to share your stories with the community!
